The Desk Swap Before the Big Presentation

Mina: Omid, did you move my desk stuff? My notes are not here, and my charger is gone too. I came in ready to set up, but everything looks mixed up.

Omid: I think we’ve had a desk swap. My slide deck is missing, and I found a printout with your name on it. Do you mean this table, or the one by the window?

Mina: Yes, this is my desk. I left my laptop here last night, and now it’s by the printer. Could someone have borrowed it, or was it moved during cleaning?

Omid: Probably during the late shift. The cleaning team said they were sorting out the office, and I guess the labels got confused. Let’s not waste time guessing. We need to confirm what each of us is missing.

Mina: Right. I need my charger, my notes, and the handout for the first section. If I don’t find them soon, I can still present, but I’ll have to speak from memory.

Omid: I’ve got your handout, I think. Could you check whether this is yours? It has a few marks, but the title matches. Also, would you mind looking in my desk drawer for the charger?

Mina: That is mine, yes. Thank you. Your charger is here, under my notebook. Sorry about the mix-up. I assumed someone had taken it, but it was just moved with the desk swap.

Omid: No problem. I should have double-checked before I panicked. If we keep calm, we can sort this out fast. I’ll return your charger, and you can keep the handout while I copy the notes.

Mina: Good plan. I can also email you the latest version of the notes. If the printer is working, we can print one backup copy for each of us. That should cover the slides and the handout.

Omid: Great. I’m going to the printer now. If it jams, I’ll ask reception to help. Could you set up the laptop and check that the slide deck opens properly? We only need a few minutes.

Mina: Sure. And if the file name looks different, don’t worry. I saved both the final version and a backup. The final one should be on the desktop, but the backup is in the folder called Presentation.

Omid: Perfect. I found another issue, though. This mouse is not responding. Do you have one we can borrow, or should I use the touchpad? It’s not ideal, but it will work for the first section.

Mina: Use my mouse. I have a spare one in my bag. We can share the setup today and fix the rest later. The important thing is that the presentation starts smoothly and we look prepared.

Omid: Thanks. I’ve opened the slide deck, and it looks fine. Can you check slide three and slide seven one more time? Those are the parts we changed late yesterday, so I want to confirm the details.

Mina: Already checking them. Slide three is correct, and slide seven has the updated chart. We’re good. I’m glad we asked clear questions instead of making assumptions. That saved us a lot of time.

Omid: It really did. I’ll put your notes by the laptop and keep my printout beside mine. If anyone asks about the desk swap, we can explain it briefly and move on. No drama, just a fix.

Mina: Exactly. We’ve got the charger, the notes, the handout, and a backup copy. The room is ready, and so are we. Let’s take one breath, then start on time.
